I've only told a few people of this. Last February 26th, I took an online certificate course from Career Step to try to become a Medical Transcriptionist (because my video game degree got me nowhere) which is basically a job where I have to learn a lot of medical terminology and type down what doctors dictate to me by audio files. Problem was... I had little to no medical terminology, and the online course work they had for it was confusing. Also, I normally wouldn't have a problem typing down what other people said... if they weren't such bad mumbling speakers!!! To top it off, I learned from online message boards that the medical transcriptionist field is a dying field, so it wouldn't have gotten me anywhere. This was my parent's idea for me to have a stay-at-home job on the computer. Nice and all, but it wasn't something I wanted to do, medicine is NOT my nitch and how can you expect to type something when the audio file you have is of a guy mumbling? So, yeah, I had to take a final exam which I had three tries on, and all three tries I failed.

Sorry, but Career Step... I do NOT recommend!

... but, I'm not upset. In fact, I'm happy that Career Step for me is finally over! Now to move on. What am I doing now?

Well, on August 24th, I managed to get myself a volunteer position for a video game company called Interceptor Entertainment as a Quality Assurance Tester! THIS WAS THE BIG BREAK I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR!!! I basically play a video game and I report bugs. The best part is that I am finally getting work experience AND my name is in the credits! This will definitely help me stand out when I apply for other video game companies (or I may just stay with Interceptor, I like it).

Right now, we've finished Beta testing a new 1.2 version of the game "Rise of the Triad" on Steam, but I can't tell you what's new in 1.2 due to a non-disclosed agreement I made when I signed on. But I can tell you that my name is in the credits! Who knows where I'll end up soon.

So, in conclusion, the whole Medical Transcriptionist thing didn't work, but I finally got my big break, I got my foot in the door with a video game company. My dream of being a game developer has started!

You working as a tester, lucky you. XD I'd say enjoy what you're doing as a voluntary tester, but I can see you already are. I hope your dream comes true in a massive way.
