Description

I almost forgot about this. In 1988, Bruce Springsteen released a small 4-track live album containing four songs, including one Bob Dylan song called "Chimes of Freedom."

For Sonic Underground, I decided to use "Fastest Thing Alive" and I'm actually referring to the SatAM theme song! I figured since "Chimes of Freedom" isn't Bruce's song, "Fastest Thing Alive" isn't the Sonic Underground's song.

I don't have much of an opinion on "Chimes of Freedom" (although it is the only place to hear any of those songs, including the acoustic version of "Born to Run") but I should get to the aforementioned terrible decision. By this point in his career, Springsteen was starting to feel musically constrained. One night in 1989, he met with Sting and found out how much freedom he had as a solo artist. The next day, Springsteen told every member of The E Street Band that it was over. The reason this may have been the worst decision of Springsteen's career will come in the next comment. [link]
