20th Anniversary of SNICK

Description

On this day, 20 years ago, Nickelodeon premiered the two-hour Saturday night television block called SNICK.

I was six years old (gunna turn seven that October) and my sister Jacqui just turned five. Yeah, we were little kids... I feel old, now I'm a college graduate and my sister is a wife and a mommy.

I remember that day very well. My parents were gone and my sister and I were with our babysitter, Jamie. I personally was anxious for "Are You Afraid of the Dark?"

Jacqui and I sat on our couch with a bowl of popcorn and we watched SNICK. First thing we saw was "Clarissa Explains it All" which was pretty good. Next, we saw that classic funny crazy duo "Ren and Stimpy" and, oh man, the two of us rolled on the couch giggling to that show. The next show that came on was "Roundhouse" which was alright, but I was still anxious for the next show, and it finally came on. "Are You Afraid of the Dark?" and I loved it! When I saw the intro, seeing that dark boat, I knew what it was. I LOVED it! Then, of course, it was time for bed.

And since then, my sister and I have been watching SNICK. For a while, at leased. We grew out of it by the 2000's, but we watched those classic shows like "All That" "Kenan & Kel" "Mystery Files of Shelby Woo" (which, for some reason, I never once solved a mystery on my own) "Secret World of Alex Mack" and plenty of others.

Happy anniversary, SNICK!

Oh, and that's my sister and I on the big orange couch. And the background is based on the house we were in at the time (we don't live in the same house anymore).

So... tell me... what were YOUR experiences watching SNICK?
